Where We Are
We are currently in Wells, ME
Where it is 62 and drizzly chilly and the leaves are changing colors!
Next: We travel to Bar Harbor as we finish our trip with our 4th and final Goal post.
Our previous post left us in the Washington Cascade Mountains on our way to Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Well, Mother Nature had other plans for us. The night before we were due to drive across the Washington/Idaho state border to Glacier, the floods hit Yellowstone and the park was closed. The popular Glacier “Road to the Sun” was closed within hours, due to flooding as well. Guess you can’t drive on a road when it’s been washed away. NOW WHAT?!
Cincinatti, OH Always homemade and fresh from scratch. Follow @RV_RoadKill ❤ Post on Instagram Two - Two Pound Lobsters bought from the live wells at Jungle Jims grocery store in Cincinatti, OH. Steve split the lobsters, cleaned them and broiled them, then brushed with Lemon Garlic butter. Steve's Lemon Garlic Butter is the bomb! He used the hand-rolled Amish butter from Wisconsin, and seasoned with freshly minced garlic and both squeezed and grated lemon zest. Upon plating, my very loving...
Batesville, IN Always homemade and fresh from scratch. Follow @RV_RoadKill ❤ Post on Instagram Gnocchi from Jungle Jims with homemade sausage from the local meat butcher, sourced from a local rancher. Absolutely authentic meal! Are you jealous yet?
Cincinatti, OH Always homemade and fresh from scratch. Follow @RV_RoadKill ❤ Post on Instagram Lemon Pesto found in the Mediterranean section of Jungle Jims. Raw shrimp found in the frozen seafood section of same store. I say "section", it was more like an entire store to itself, complete with large indoor tanks. No not little aquariums like where they keep the live lobsters, fish and eels. Real large swimming pool sized tanks!
Since leaving California, we’ve driven north through Oregon to Washington. As soon as we crossed into Oregon, it started snowing and raining. It hasn’t stopped raining in the past month, although there are moments of sunshine most days that we take full advantage of.
The burger was juicy and very drippy. But the battered steak fries were to die for! Made this for our first full day in camp in Hollister. Steak fries recipe to follow.
We never made it to Lake Tahoe. The National Weather service had severe wind advisories in effect for the area we were to travel to. Beyond his fear of heights, Steve’s healthy fear of high winds had us re-thinking our ambitious plans to get to the Northwest.
After a long drive day, we absolutely cheated our way through a holiday dinner.
I joined Toastmasters 5 years ago to improve my public speaking skills. This weekly, constant sharpening of the saw, made most of us phenomenal speakers in Zoom. During RV life, my club keeps me grounded and connected.
It just dawned on me, that I can go days without stepping outside. Not exactly highly unusual since I’ve always lived and worked under the same roof, even before it was COVID-cool.
